Community Engagement

Overview

Presbyterian Community Engagement awards one-time sponsorships and community grants of varying amounts. Priority is given to community organizations whose missions relate directly to improving the health status of individuals within underserved populations, advancing the health equity status of our communities, promoting healthy eating and active living, and enhancing a sense of cultural belonging within New Mexico.

Health equity means everyone has a fair and just opportunity to be as healthy as possible. Addressing health inequity due to structural and social drivers of health (SDOH) is essential to delivering on the Presbyterian purpose to better serve members, patients and communities in New Mexico. We are proud to support single-time events or opportunities facilitated by our community partners addressing:

  • Behavioral Health: psychological health care, mental wellbeing, substance use.

  • Social Health: housing, food access, transportation, personal safety, environmental health.

  • Physical Health: chronic disease prevention and management, healthy eating, active living.

Being able to access the right health care at the right time is a challenge across New Mexico. At Presbyterian, we work every day, across every part of our integrated system, to improve access for our patients, members and communities. Sponsorships and community grants falling under this priority include:

  • Vaccination clinics.

  • Perinatal and maternal health initiatives.

  • Healthcare workforce education and expansion.

  • Rural healthcare sustainability and support.

Presbyterian is committed to an inclusive and equitable environment where everyone is valued and empowered for success. We value diversity and inclusion and strive to treat all individuals with respect. We believe that our environment should reflect the diversity of our community and award sponsorships and community grants to initiatives supporting a culture of belonging, including:

  • Intergenerational wellness.

  • LGBTQIA+ communities.

  • Disability and accessibility.

  • Race and ethnicity.

  • Veterans and first responders.
