Post-Graduate Year Two (PGY2) in Ambulatory Care Pharmacy

PGY2 residents work with licensed pharmacist clinicians (PhCs) within the patient-centered medical home. Opportunities in primary and specialty care are available and flexible to meet individual interests. Residents also engage in ambulatory care administrative activities at high levels within a large integrated healthcare system.

Learning Experiences

The first half of the residency year is spent in primary care patient-centered medical homes under the supervision of licensed pharmacist clinicians (PhCs) treating disease states including but not limited to diabetes, hypertension, hyperlipidemia and pulmonary conditions, supervising anticoagulation services and performing medication therapy management. The second half of the year adds specialty experience while allowing continuity in primary care.

Additional training experiences may include: interdisciplinary collaboration with Presbyterian’s Advanced Practice Clinician fellowship program, Crucial Conversations® course, medical Spanish course, leadership workshop series, project ECHO, and the teaching certificate program through The University of New Mexico.

  • Candidates must be an ACPE- or FPGECcertified pharmacy graduate and be eligible for New Mexico pharmacy licensure.

  • An ASHP-accredited or candidate-status PGY1 residency program must be complete or in progress.
