Post-Graduate Year One (PGY1) Pharmacy
The ASHP-accredited PGY1 Pharmacy Residency offered at Presbyterian Hospital in downtown Albuquerque is a flexible program designed to provide residents with unique experiences in both clinical and administrative practice. The overall goal of the PGY1 program is to prepare residents for clinical practice by developing their technical, critical thinking and communication skills through interdisciplinary rounds and patient profile review, in-service education, precepting pharmacy students, and participation on pharmacy and hospital committees. At the end of the program, residents are well-prepared for a position in hospital pharmacy, board certification, or pursuit of a PGY2 residency program.

Our staffing requirements are every other weekend (two 10-hour shifts), and residents may take off either the Friday before or the Monday after each staffing weekend. Staffing typically begins on a general medicine unit, but can be tailored to residents' interests as the year progresses.
