Pediatrix Cardiology Associates of New Mexico Doctors:
William Berman Jr., MD
Dr. Berman was raised in St. Louis, MO, and attended Harvard University and Washington University School of Medicine where he received his MD in 1969.
He completed his pediatric training at the University of California Medical Center in San Francisco and after two years in the U.S. Public Health Service completed his pediatric cardiology fellowship at the Cardiovascular Research Institute of UCSF in 1976. He has been on the university faculty of UCSF and Pennsylvania State's Hershey Medical Center.
He is currently an Adjunct Professor of Pediatrics at the University of New Mexico and on the clinical faculty at UNM. He has been a New Mexico resident since 1978.
Dr. Berman is a Diplomate of the American Board of Pediatrics and the sub-board of Pediatric Cardiology. He is a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology and the American Academy of Pediatrics, a member of the American Heart Associates, and past secretary-treasurer of the Society for Pediatric Research, of which he is now a Senior Member. He is a member of the New Mexico Pediatric Society, the American Physiologic Society, and the Society for Cardiac Angiography and Interventions.
Dr. Berman specializes in therapeutic catheterization.
Gerard (Jerry) Holmes, MD, PhD
Dr. Holmes joined Pediatric Cardiology Associates in December, 2002.
He is well-known to pediatricians and other primary care physicians throughout New Mexico, having served as a pediatric cardiologist at UNM since 1994.
During his 8 years at UNM, he served in a variety of capacities including: Director of Clinical Outreach, Director of Pediatric Echocardiography, Director of Fetal Cardiology, and, most recently, Director of the Children’s Hospital Heart Center and Chief of the Division of Pediatric Cardiology.
Dr. Holmes adds greater depth to PCA by providing expertise and experience in non-invasive cardiac diagnosis (including fetal and transesophageal echocardiography) and clinical outreach.
Bradley D. Raisher, MD
Dr. Raisher hails from St. Louis, Missouri and attended the University of Kansas where he received his BA in 1977, and the University of Kansas School of Medicine where he received his MD in 1982.
His pediatric training was in Wisconsin and Maine. His pediatric cardiology fellowship was completed at St. Louis Children's Hospital. He has been an Assistant Professor of Pediatrics at the State University of New York (SUNY), Stony Brook Campus. He became resident of a New Mexico in 1996.
Dr. Raisher is a Diplomate of the American Board of Pediatrics the sub-board of Pediatric Cardiology, and a member of the American Heart Association.
His special interests include both echocardiography and interventional cardiac catheterization.
Steven M. Yabek, MD
Dr. Yabek was born in New York City, graduated from the City University of New York in 1965 and received his medical education at Downstate Medical Center where he received his MD in 1969.
He completed his pediatric training at Kings County Hospital of the State University of New York. He completed his pediatric cardiology fellowship at UCLA Center for the Health Sciences in Los Angeles from 1973 to 1976 before moving to New Mexico.
Dr. Yabek is a Diplomate of the American Board of Pediatrics and the Sub-Board of Pediatric Cardiology. He is a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology and the American Academy of pediatrics, a member of the American Heart Association and the New Mexico Pediatric Society. He is a Senior Member of the Society for Pediatric Research and a member of the North American Society for Pacing and Electrophysiology.
His special interests are in electrocardiography, arrhythmia management and cardiac pacing.
