Summary of Benefits Coverage and Uniform Glossary

The Summary of Benefits and Coverage (SBC) document is intended to provide consumers and plan members with a concise document explaining simple and consistent information about health plan benefits and coverage. It summarizes key plan information, such as the covered benefits, cost-sharing provisions, and coverage limitations and exceptions. You can access your plan specific SBC through PresOnline.

The Uniform Glossary includes  many commonly used health coverage and medical terms, but isn't a full list.  These terms and definitions are intended to be educational and may be different from the terms and definitions for your plan.  Some terms might not have exactly the same meaning when used in plan documents.  The Uniform Glossary may not be modified by plans or issuers and is provided in connection with the SBC.

Both documents are owned by the Department of Health and Human Services Department of Labor and the Internal Revenue Service as part of the Affordable Care Act requirements. They are designed to provide health plan information in a uniform format to assist members and consumers in understanding the benefits provided and to allow consumers to comare plan terms offered by issuers.

The Presbyterian Glossary of Terms explains technical terms you may encounter when talking about your plan or healthcare benefits.
